Radio Gordo is an independent online station based on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada, built by a collective of music lovers. Their programmes move freely across genres, from psychedelic and progressive rock to funk, blues, jazz, and experimental electronic music. Rather than following a rigid format, the station focuses on themed shows, artist spotlights, and carefully curated selections that reflect a spirit of curiosity and musical exploration.
We’re featuring Radio Gordo because their approach captures what independent online radio is all about: sharing music with personality, imagination, and a genuine sense of discovery. Their programming feels handcrafted rather than conventional, and their creative spirit came through clearly in the material they shared with us.
To keep everything running smoothly, Radio Gordo uses Airtime Pro to schedule and broadcast their programmes around the clock. The platform helps them manage shows, automate their schedule, and maintain a continuous stream, giving them the freedom to focus on curating great music and building their station’s identity.
When asked to describe the station in their own words, here’s what they said:
“In the forested folds of the Pacific Continuum, where vinyl grooves encode forgotten futures and pine needles whisper encrypted memories, Ranger Dave spins records that warp causality. His turntable – half bark, half crystal – translates the quantum ache of lost timelines into audible hallucinations. The trees listen. The moon records. Somewhere in the Bureau of Gordomics, a clerk files this broadcast under ‘Unauthorized Ontological Interference.’ But Dave just nods, adjusts the stylus, and lets the signal bleed all day long, every day, waiting for you to discover.”
They continued: “All musical styles live on Radio Gordo. We began as a group effort to expose the music we all love, but few even know about. We worship at the Altar of Jimi, Miles, Carlos, and Jeff… We are Radio Gordo.”
During a previous promo, we received a jingle from Radio Gordo that stood out, and we’re now sharing this atmospheric track from the archives as a small taste of the station’s unique and expansive world.
